2010 Ultimate Wellness Challenge
We all know how important it is to eat healthy and get lots of physical activity. Research shows that good nutrition and physical activity contribute to improved academic performance, higher attendance rates, improved behavior - and ultimately, lifelong health and well-being. Sound nutrition and physical activity help kids maintain a healthy weight, a critical consideration in the face of the alarming epidemic of childhood obesity.
Redding Recreation will continue to incorporate nutrition education and physical activity into existing programs. But, beginning in 2010 Redding Recreation will launch our Wellness Challenge for those who may not be involved in traditional youth sports programs and begin programs, services and activities that will encourage youth in fun and innovative ways to get moving and to increase their physical skills. In addition, the Wellness Challenge will include healthy eating and hands-on opportunities to learn about food and nutrition.
