Art from the Inside Out
Adults
This 4 week class is for those who need a "creative boost" or if you feel that you are not creative, come to find out you are! It is based on the premise that everyone is creative and when you let go and have fun with the process, art (and life) begin to happen. This class is not focused on technique but on a spontaneous and expressive use of pastel, clay, collage, and watercolors. It is designed to bring your creative spirit out and assist in living life as a work of art. Instructor is Jodee Smith.

Introduction Asian Brush Painting
(Ages 12 -Adults)
We will use bamboo brushes, ink sticks and slate rubbing stones to recreate the ancient art of the Asian world. We will create our own stamp to represent a chop. This is an introductory class, beginners are welcome. Instructor is Laurel Besecker.

Painting Silk Scarf's
(Ages 12 - Adults)
First we will learn to make a simple frame to stretch silk scarf's. Next we will stretch scarf's and paint using dyes for silk. We will use salt and alcohol to create different textures. Instructor is Laurel Besecker.

Batik on Cotton
(Ages 12 - Adults)
We will paint a pattern with hot wax onto cotton to form a picture and then paint with dyes. We then iron out wax or take the process further by applying wax crinkling and dipping into dye. Instructor is Laurel Besecker.

Paper Making
(Ages 8 - Adult)
Learn how to make your own unique paper! We'll start by blending various recycled papers together to create a paper pulp which will be pushed onto a framed screen and pressed to flatten. You'll learn how to add personal touches to your paper through the use of flowers, colored paper, or different scents. Once it drys, it's ready to use to make cards out of, paint on, or use for printing. Instructor is Laurel Besecker.

Pen and Ink
(Ages 12 - Adult)
Working with a small tip pen, learn how to use patterns, repetition, detail, and texture to create a 3D look. We will work on watercolor paper with indelible pens, adding color afterward with watercolors. Instructor is Laurel Besecker.

Water Color Techniques
(Ages 9 - Adult)
Learn the secrets to creating foliage, stones, sand & gravel, wood grain, grasses and depth and distance in your paintings. We will use elements that you have right at home and some that you may already have in your painting supplies. Instructor is Laurel Besecker.

Still Life Class
We will use compositional still life as our subject: fruits, vegetables and beautiful objects. If you wish, you may bring your own objects and design your own composition. Any medium may be used. You will need to bring a tripod easle as well as materials of your choice. Beginners welcome. Instructor is Judy King.
